BQ25606: Battery overdischarge protection

Part Number: BQ25606

Hi,

I would like to know more about the battery over discharge protection on bq25606 and its EVM.

I found the parameter VBAT_DPL_FALL min to be 2.15V and max to be 2.6V, if so, what will be the voltage that will activate the shutdown protection on the battery?

Can it be set?

Thank you

  • Hi,

When the battery is discharged until VBAT falls below the VBAT_DPL_FALL threshold you mentioned, the BATFET will turn off in order to protect the battery from over-discharge (please see Section 8.3.8.5.2 of the datasheet for more details). With VBAT falling, the minimum value for VBAT_DPL_FALL is 2.15 V, and the maximum value is 2.6 V. These min and max values take into account many worst case scenarios, such as a wide temperature range from -40 °C to 125 °C. At room temperature and under normal operating conditions, the actual VBAT_DPL_FALL threshold will be closer to the middle of this voltage range. I saw a threshold of 2.49 V on an EVM, but I can't guarantee an exact value because it can change slightly due to several variables.

    Best regards,
    Angelo
