BQ40Z80: Exit from Rom mode

Part Number: BQ40Z80

Hi,

For download fw, I made BQ40Z80 to Rom mode.

After fw download, I input the command as the picture.

But I can't exit from Rom mode.

Could you help for this issue?

  • Hi David,

This is the correct command to execute firmware.

To confirm that you are still in ROM mode, Read Word 0x0D. If the value is between 0 and 100, the device is executing firmware. If the value is over 100, the device is still in firmware mode.

If the error yet persists (device remains in ROM mode), please program the device with the SREC again.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
  • Hi Bryan,

As attached picture, value is 0x0C.

After programming SREC again, it's still same.

Could you share the latest SREC?

I already tried with SREC after "import default" and "Read srec from device"

Do I need any HW setting?

  • Hi David,

With respect to HW setting, please configure the jumpers as described in the EVM User Manual. Try first with a 6S configuration using a battery simulator.

If the issue persists, probe the TS pins with an oscilloscope to monitor for a pulse. If a pulse is detected, the device is in FW mode.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
