Hello,

I want to know if i can use bq40z50-R2 without balancing feature.

In the technical reference manual and its data sheet i see that the balancing can be disabled but i can't find how to wire the pins: VC1, VC2 VC3 & Vc4 in this case.

I have 4s1p (14.4V nomninal) li Ion pack with only 2 wires Bat+ & Bat-.

The balance FETs are internal to the chip. Does this help?

Hi,

So, your indirect answer is that I can use the BQ40Z50-R2 without balancing, by connecting VC1, VC2, VC3 & VC4 to GND and disabling this feature in BQstudio?

The bq40z50-R2 does require each series cell to be wired into the device because it monitors the impedance and capacity of each series cell.
Unfortunately you will not be able to wire only the top and bottom of the stack into the device and get it to work even if you disable cell balancing.
