UCC28070: Can I place the current transformers below MOSFETS (between source/ground).

Part Number: UCC28070

Can I place the current transformers below the MOSFETS (between MOSFET-source/gnd) instead of between drain and PFC-inductors/diodes (as in reference design)?

Maybe the gate signal will be disturbed by the CTs?

The reason for the alternative placement is for easier PCB layout, and also I assume getting components out of the switching leg is a good thing.

Erik

  • Hello Erik,

Thank you for your interest in UCC28070.

I do not see any problem with the said placement of the current transformer. Just make sure that the basic layout guidelines are met, as you know already the CS signals are highly sensitive and special care should be taken in order to make these traces as short as possible and away from any high voltage or high switching traces to avoid interference.

I hope this answers your question.

    Regards,
