Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL455A-Q1, BQ76PL455A

I have a peoject with 32 series of cells using two piece of BQ76PL455A-q1 on a same board now,but there are some problems.Series communication circuit is the same as the manual 'slua785.pdf' described:"1.3 Daisy-Chain (Multiple bq76PL455A-Q1 Devices on Same Board) ",the communication configuration is in accordance with the manual of 'slva617aTI.pdf',but it does not work normal. When I read address of device ,it response with a incorrect data which is '0x26'.What does it mean?Whther it indicate a cetain mistake? How can I get the desired data?

Best regards

  • Hi geng,

Please refer to your other thread where we need to step through checking the hardware with our GUI or example code before debugging custom hardware/software. I will close this thread and we can communicate through the other thread only to keep it organized.

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for your answser. The current situation is that I can communicate with the bottom stack device, for example:read its sampling message and address which is 0x00,but communication with the top stack device is not ok .when I read the address of the top device ,Idin't receive any response. Can you analyse the possible reason for me?thanks!

  • HI Taylor,
Thanks for your help. There is another question that I can not sure about the wakeup pin on the top stack device,if it is neccsary to give it a wakeup signal to get it to work,or it starts work as it detect the uart signal?

  • HI Taylor,Are you basing your code off of our example code?

The series communication circuit is also troubling me now,I am not sure about it though I made it reference the manual.I made the sofeware configuration for the two BQ76PL455A devices with the same way in broardcast write without response, the bottom stack device can communicate normally,if it can prove that the software configuration is correct? The series communication circuit as follow screenshot, can you help me to check it,thanks!

  • Hi xiaoming,

The daisy chain circuit you show above it okay and I dont think that is the issue. What is concerning is that you mention that you may have wakeup pin held high on the stack device. For stacked devices we recommend to connect the wakeup pin to gnd so that is it only responding to daisy chain commands from the bottom device. Please check this and feel free to attach your schematic and I can look over it to check if anything else looks incorrect.
