LMZM23600: step up and step down in one component

Part Number: LMZM23600
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3578A

Hi

i have a system that the input voltage can be between 20-2V and I need to convert it to 2-6V.

the thing is that sometime the input is 2V and I need to convert it to 6V and sometimes the input is 20V and i need to convert it to 2V so the ranges are pretty big.

I need a component that can be a step up when needed and also a step down when needed and the output voltage should be adjustable between 2-6V.

is there such a component?

thanks in advanced.

  • or sam,

What you are looking for is a buck-boost converter.  For your input voltage range, you can look at LM3578A:

There may be others as well.

  • Hi John

thank you very much for your answer.

I have looked at the component you offered.

the thing is that I havent seen there FB or something like that.

I need to be able to control the output voltage using a digital potensiometer.

I havent found something thin the bulk boost section that I can control the output voltage.

    can you please advice?

    thanks in advanced.

  • or sam,

LM3578A has an unusual input stage. Both the inverting and non inverting inputs are present in the pin out as -input and +input. The -input pin is what you would normally consider the FB pin. I can't offer much additional help as i do not directly support LM3578A. I'll see if I can find out who does.
  • or sam,

I can't locate the applications engineer for the LM3578A. If you have further questions about it I recommend you start a new post. I will close this one out for now.
