TPS62097: PWM Iq

Part Number: TPS62097

Hi Expert,

I saw the Iq data is 40uA~57uA in -40~85 degree at PFM mode. How about PWM Iq data? Thanks!

  • Hello,
The quiescent current (Iq) is measured at the input of a buck converter with the device enabled, with no load and in not switching conditions. In this following documents, you can read an exhaustive explanation of what is the Iq and how it could be used.

  • Hi Alfonso,

Competition shows up the below information, Can you guide me how to use your link document to calculate it for TPS62097?

  • Hello,
in your previous picture, it is only reported the typical value, and since it is specified the "no switching" condition, it means that it was measured the input current in 100% mode, En high and FPWM. So, if you measure this input current in 100% mode or if you calculate the input current from the efficiency plot in FPWM, you will see different values due to the different conditions. When you measure in 100% mode, you have to include the losses of the Rds and Qg of the high side mos (always on), and for this reason, the value is higher (as shown in your pic). However, measuring in switching conditions could be even worse because you have to add also the switching losses of Mosfets and parasitics. In this case, is proper refers directly to input current (or consumption current).
For these foregoing reasons, it has more sense to evaluate the quiescent current when most of the blocks and functionality are sleeping or in no switching conditions. In integrated solutions, it is very tricky valuate the quiescent current in FPWM removing the losses of the different blocks.
