BQ25708: Using CMPOUT pin connect to ILIM_HIZ pin to control Hi-Z mode directly

Yes you can. CMPOUT is an open-drain output so you may use it to pull down on the ILIM_HIZ pin.

However, keep in mind that enabling HIZ mode on the charger will turn off the comparator output if you do not have Low Power mode disabled.
