Hi there,

I am looking for a buck regulator with the following specs:

- 9 - 36V input

-3V3 output

- capable of more than 500 mA

- easy to solder package

- low-cost

Are there any recommendations?

I currently have chosen out the following parts:

LM25010

LM25011

TPS54140

TPS54160

TPS57140

LMR14020

LMR14030

What is the difference between the TPS, LM, and LMR series?

What's maximum load current? this is key factor for selecting right buck converter.

TPS560430 is recommended if load current below 600mA.

LMR23610 for 1A load, LMR23625 or LMR14020 for 2A load.

LM and LMR series was product family from National Semiconductor which was acquired by TI in 2011. you just need to reveiw and select most recent released part for your application no matter it's TPS or LM/LMR series.

Hi,

Load current can go up to 600 mA and down to 200 mA. The TPS560430 barely meets the specs. I need a part with a greater voltage range and capable of more than 750 mA.

Pls try LMR23610 36V/1A or LMR14010 40V/1A for your application.

Hi,

LMR23610 and LMR14010 are more cost-effective than other LMR and TPS parts, it's more easy to use than LM2501X parts.

It seems that the following options are cheaper for my application:

LM25010
LM25011

Any problems with these parts that you can see? What are the differences between the two.

Hi,

LM2501X use COT control while LMR parts use peak current mode control. You can check Fig21 on LM2501X data sheet for switching freq variation with Vin, LMR part has fixed switching freq. Pls check with local TI distributor to compare device budget price.
