TPS22919: Safety certification

Part Number: TPS22919
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25221

Dear Team,

My customer needs IEC 62368 certification for load switches. Have we certified TPS22919 for IEC 62368 or for any other safety standards?

Best Regards,

Caglar

  • Hi Caglar,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

Unfortunately, we don't have any safety certifications currently for the TPS22919. Is there a concern using the device without a safety certification?

    Thanks,
    Arthur Huang
  • Hi Arthur,

Yes, it is needed for TV applications. Actually, TPS25221 is currently in use and this part has IEC 62368 certification. However, they would like to use a fixed current limit device on a new project. This is why I was looking into TPS22919, but without the cerification it is not possible.

    Best Regards,

    Caglar
  • Hi Caglar,

Thanks for the additional information. Let me discuss with our team about the IEC certification in the future.

In regards to the current limit feature, as you mentioned the TPS22919 doesn't have an adjustable current limit, but will protect itself in the event of an output short. Can you provide more details regarding the downstream load, and why a fixed current limit is necessary?

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang
