BQ24650: 30-minute precharge timer issue

Part Number: BQ24650

Question 1: In the datasheet there are several places call out VRECH, however, there’s no VRECH definition. What is VRECH? Is it the same as VRECHG?

Question 2: It requires VBF>VLOWV (1.55V) within 30 minutes, or it enters the fault condition. How does it get out of the fault mode? From Figure 14, it seems that it sticks in an infinite loop.

If we have a large battery or when the supply current list small/limited, we could be at risk if we can’t reach VFB > VRECH (what’s the numerical value?) within 30 minutes at the rate of 1/10 of fast charge current.

Thanks

  • Hi Shang Wu18,
1: Yes, you are correct that VRECH and VRECHG are the same parameter
2: To get out of condition when safety timer is hit, a new charge cycle needs to be toggled. To toggle a new charge cycle, either a power-on-reset (POR) event needs to occur, or MPPSET falls below 75 mV to reset charge enable.
3: VRECH/G numerical value relative to VFB, can be found in the d.s under the recharge comparator section of the electrical characteristics table
