TPS7A33: -12V -> -5V/1A application

Hi expert,

Customer is asking for LDO solution could support -12V -> -5V/1A, I found out TPS7A33 but the package is big. Do we have a smaller solution for this application? Thanks a lot!

    Hi Ann,

    Unfortunately TPS7A33 is our smallest solution for this type of regulation. The big package is primarily due to power dissipation. If your application does not require the full 1A then we may have smaller solutions for you.

    For instance if you are only dissipating 200mA then TPS7A30 may be a good choice.

    Also if you are also powering a positive channel then you could look at our dual channel solution that supports both +/- channels: TPS7A39.

    Hi Wilson,

    If customer can accept bigger package, can LM337 support -12V->-5V/1A? And I found out this part is old, do you have other solution more suitable and is 263 or 252 package? Thanks a lot!!

    Hi Ann,

    Yes LM337 will work here if customer can accept bigger package. Please also consider UA79 for this as well (comes in TO-263).
