TPS62136: Heating issue while converting 15V to 12V

Hi,

I m facing heating issue with TPS62136 which i have designed to convert 15V to 12V. The schematics of the circuit is given below. My input voltage is 15V. The current that i want to the laod is 2.5A. I want 12V out. Can anyone help us to solve this issue.

Hi Mebin,

Assuming R6 is a DNP component, your schematic seems fine to me.
Can you please share your layout with me. Additionally, can you please describe the heating issue in more details? and in how many parts have you seen this issue?

Hi Mebin,

Thanks for sharing the schematics and the layout.
I still do not know what kind of heating issue you are having. so please explain this to me.
However, the layout needs revision. Please remove the vias you have on the pins of the device. Additionally, make L1 closer to the SW pin and make its connection to the sw thicker, because high current flows through that connection. Please follow all the tips mentioned in the DS of the device in page 34 and 35.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Heating issue is happening while step down 15v to 12V and this 12V is used for battery charging(MCP73844T-840I/MS). I will resdesign the existing pcb and check heat issue again after that i will get back to you.
