The chip was damaged

Part Number: TPS62290-Q1

Customer found damages in the process of using TPS62290IDRVRQ1.

This IC has produced about 300 PCS in this project. At present, there are three boards with this problem. so, the failure rate = 1%

This batch of samples have been used for a period of time after production. Functional verification tests and experiments have been done. These problems are found in the test process. They do not exceed the use conditions of product design in the use process. They are all equipped with shells in the process of power-on, and there is no short circuit.

Please help us to analyze the causes.

thanks.

  • Hello Wade shao,

it looks like you have posted this multiple times. I will delete the other posts with the same content.

On the layout picture you have posted I cannot see GND (pin 6) properly connected to the input capacitors. Having a low impedance connection to the input capacitors is critical for circuit performance and reliability. Not having this direct GND connection between pin 6 and the input capacitors can explain the failures.
I suggest to improve that. Figure 24 in the datasheet shows how this is expected to be done.

    Best regards,
    Juergen
