BQ51003: Test fixture to measure receiving coil: where to obtain the ferrite shield?

Part Number: BQ51003

Hi,

According to the Detailed Design Procedure, section 9.2.1.2 in the data sheet of the BQ51003, one of the steps is measuring the inductance of the receiver coil in a special test fixture. This test fixture would be easy to construct if the primary shield, "50 mm x 50 mm x 1 mm of Ferrite material PC44 from TDK Corp." would be available, but I have no clue where to get it. I asked TDK Europe, and they don't recognize this as a standard part. Does it have an article number? Is there any source where I could order it?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

  • Hi
Measurement description used in section 9.2.1.2 data sheet is from the WPC ( Qi ) standard that includes PC44 material.
We have a few samples of the material that were obtained some years ago and have not purchased recently.

I did a comparison between a standard A11 TX coil (50mm x 50mm) Ferrite and PC44, results are similar. This could be used as a substitute for measurement and tuning.
  • Hi Bill,

I had already considered that, it's great to have your confirmation that it is a viable approach.

    Thanks!
