BQ2970: Is there a lithium cell size threshold when it is makes sense (or is required) to have cell protection?

Part Number: BQ2970
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2057, , BQ25100

New product needs under 100mAh battery.  Do you know if there’s a lithium cell size threshold when it is makes sense or required to have cell protection?

Do I need a bq2970 and bq2057, or will bq2057 or bq25100 do the job alone for small capacity cells?

Obviously by this charger selection I am looking for small footprint.  I am hoping I don’t need the bq2970 circuitry.

FYI -  I don’t have the industry lithium cell protection requirements, if you know the link, let me know.

The need for a protector is based on your application and what industry your application is to be used in. There might be different regulations that govern different industries. Look through the specs of the devices mentioned and see which one meets your need for a protector.
    thanks
