I have a system with a bq24735 charge controller chip on the RRC-PMM240 battery management board, and a bq20z65 is the fuel gauge chip inside the RRC2020 smart battery pack.
I am not able to talk to these devices via bqStudio. Also, the bq20z65-R1-bqevsw-sw software tool is not available from the download page on ti.com. I'm using a TI EV2400 interface between my laptop and system, with the SMBUS port connected to VCC, SDA, SCL and GND of the PMM240 board.
How can I get all this working?
Thanks,
Carl Olen
hi Carl
Pls try this bqEVSW for the bq20z65-R1 and let me know if it works
thanks
Onyx
Onyx,
I uninstalled the program and then re-installed (again) as administrator. The message I got during the TI bq Evaluation Software 00.09.64 Setup reads
“The EV2300 hardware does not support windows versions older than Windows 98 SE. The EV2300 driver has been verified to work on Windows 2000 and Windows XP only. If you have Windows 2003 or newer you may try to install the Windows 2000/XP drivers separately.”
I then clicked OK to dismiss the installer. After re-starting the re-installed program, I got the same exact behavior as before.
So, should I try installing the “Windows 2000/XP drivers separately”? Does the EV2400 even have Windows 2000/XP drivers?
NOTE: I am using Windows 10 Pro 2018 on my lab machine. Does this make a difference?
Please let me know. Thanks,
Carl
Onyx,
So, I found a download “EV2300a_Device_Driver_Installer_Multilanguage_0.6” from the link: https://e2e.ti.com/administrators1/battery_management/m/videos_files/458983
And then I followed the instructions below. For use of bqEVSW with EV2300, here are the recommended steps:
Install unofficial 64-bit drivers for EV2300 from the zip archive attached to this post. Then restarted.
Install the desired bqEVSW package from the corresponding gauge product folder on TI.com. (3362.sluc177.exe), then restarted. Note: I got the same message at the end of the installation: “The EV2300 hardware does not support windows versions older than Windows 98 SE. The EV2300 driver has been verified to work on Windows 2000 and Windows XP only. If you have Windows 2003 or newer you may try to install the Windows 2000/XP drivers separately.”
Install as administrator the support components from this link: http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc291, entitled “EV2400_Support_Components_20110524.exe” then, restarted.
I then switched the USB input on my laptop to another port (the one marked with the "SS<network symbol> <battery symbol>" And VIOLA! It works
Thanks,
Carl
