TPS22810-Q1: QOD pin - AMR and flexibility of usage

Part Number: TPS22810-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22810

Hello.

In my design, I am considering using the TPS22810-Q1's QOD function to discharge a different point other than VOUT. I tried searching for the pin's AMR and operating range in the datasheet, but couldn't find anything.

So I wanted to know what are the pin's AMR and operating voltage ranges, both positive and negative, in regard to VIN, VOUT and GND.

Thanks,

Sam.

  • Hi Sam,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

Can you elaborate on what AMR is? In regards to operating range, the QOD pin has the same range as VOUT, shown in the absolute maximum ratings.

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang

  • Hello Arthur.

I apologize for using abbreviations, we are just used to them here :)

The AMR, or Absolute Maximum Rating, is the maximum and minimum voltage outside of which the device becomes permanently damaged. It is listed either as an absolute value, or as a relative value to another voltage (usually supply, in case there are protection diodes). In the case of TPS22810, the AMR of Vin is absolute and the AMR of Vout is relative to Vin.

The "Operational Range", or Recommended Operating Conditions, are a range of the same values within which the manufacturer guarantees the listed performance of the device. There is usually a small gap between the AMR and Operating range, which we call "The TWILIGHT Zone" :)

Thus, since QOD is not listed either in the AMR table or the Operating Range table, I wanted to know these ranges and their relation to Vin or other parameters.

  • Hi Sam,

Got it, the QOD pin has the same range and dependency as the VOUT pin.

    Thanks,
    Arthur
  • Understood. Thank you for your answer.
