BQ28Z610: F/W issue

Part Number: BQ28Z610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO, BQ40Z50

Hi Sir

For BQ28Z610

1. I saw the latest F/W version is 0.20 and so far our product use 0.17 version ,Do I have to change the F/W version from 0.17 to 0.20 ?

2. Have any F/W change note document ?

3. How could I make sure the BQ28Z610 is not 0.16 version on our hand ? (date code or use EV2400 to see the H/W version?)

Thanks

  • Hi Kai
    -I would recommend you use the v0.20 if it is not too too much trouble to change.
    - When you download the v0.20, there will be change notes included in the download.
    - The firnware version can be read via command. Pls refer to the TRM for the firmware version command.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx

    We meet a few issue of BQ28Z610
    1. H/W version = 0x0A and F/W version = 0x0017 => Sometimes gauge can't communication with EV2400
    2. H/W Version = 0x06 and F/W version = 0x0017 => Function normally

    May I know 0x0A could be used for new project ?
  • Hi Onyx

    Sorry

    May I know your suggestion?
  • Hi Kai

    pls follow the instructions below and tell me what the two devices report:

    The way to identify between old chip and new chip is as follows, using bqStudio:
    1. Go to Advanced Comm I2C screen in bqStudio
    2. Put the part in ROM mode by sending 0x00 0F to register 0x00.
    3. Switch the communication to SMBus and restart bqStudio, and select a part like bq40z50 which uses SMBus.
    4. Go to Advanced Comm SMB screen and Read Word 0xD.
    5. If the read result is 0x9100 then it is 9002A1 (old), if the read result is 9101 then it is 9002A2 (new)

    thanks
    Onyx
