Hello.

i must use MC33063A for a project where:

Vin = 12V to 24V

Vout = 5V

Iout = 2A

I can't use the normal configuration but with external NMOS or PMOS yes.

My question:

1- What is the better solution, NMOS or PMOS? What is the difference between the two solutions?

2- How I can configure the components?

is there any special reason to select such old device? there are many simple solution with smaller size, higher efficiency, lower cost for such application. I didn't see any reason to select MC33063A

the IC may be cheap, but the total solution should be not if considering the cost of the external NPN, large inductor/ capacitor.
I only support boost converter, so I assign this post to the experts supporting buck device.
