TPS2511: Connection with two Usb ports

Part Number: TPS2511

Hello
We have a product that has two usb ports and we are thinking to use two TPS2511. But what if we use only one control charger with two usb ports in parallel connected with data line + and -. What problems can we have if in usb ports we try to charge two phones in the same time, or else.

Thank you.

P.S
If we use two TPS2511, can we use one of them as a current limiter (for example 2.1A) and use this to divide the power into two usb ports ?
The reason for this current limiter is that our power supply has 3A and we need the 0.9A for other components so only 2.1A are for both usb ports. So the idea is to get fast charging but only when one usb port is busy.

  • Hi Erjon Ameti,

    Sorry for the late reply.

A: if just use one TPS2511, when the two phones try to charge in the same time, BC1.2 handshake can be problematic if their handshake signals overlap. BC1.2 handshake times vary from phone to phone, but usually take tens of milliseconds, If the interval between two phones is long enough, there is no problem.

For the application you post below, There's no problem with the application.

    Best Regards,

    Kevin
