CCS/UCD3138A64OEVM-662: Program does not run when I disconnect the target power source and reconnect it.

I have UCD3138A64 module with me, every time before i burn the code using CCS I clear the flash memory and than load the desired code, during burning the code it shows writing in flash at certain range of address and Performing Flash Program on certain memory range. But when i disconnect the power source and reconnect it , the program does not run.

Does this imply that the code is present in the RAM and not in the flash ?

P.S I even used the sample codes provided in training labs but still i get the same error. Please reply fast .

Hello Anirudh,

Are you writing the checksum? If the checksum is not written then the device will stay in ROM mode upon power reset, with the firmware still in program flash. In the UCD3XXX Device GUI you can check that your program is still in the program flash by clicking "Command ROM to execute its program (SendByte 0xF0 to Address 11)."

We don't advise writing the checksum unless you have a way to return to ROM mode, as the device can get locked up with the last firmware programmed. You can check if your firmware supports the standard way of going back to ROM mode from program mode by clicking "Command Program to jump to ROM (SendByte 0xD9)." After you have confirmed that, then you can feel more confident in writing the checksum. To write the checksum you can adjust your download settings, or you can write it afterward from the "Checksums" tab in the UCD3XXX Device GUI.

I am using CCS studio for building and burning the code and i cannot see checksum in the CCS

is UCD3XXX Device GUI necessary or will CCS will be sufficient ?

Hello,

If you are using CCS then you are using JTAG to download. There is a setting to write the checksum. Please take a look at the following training video for downloading with JTAG in CCS.

You don't need the Device GUI to download if you are using JTAG. However, many find the memory debugger in there very useful.
