BQ25710: Lead Acid Battery

Part Number: BQ25710

Hi All,

Is it possible to use the BQ25710 to recharge a 12V, 8A, Lead Acid Battery?

Looking at the datasheet it seems the maximum cell number is limited to 4, while the battery I need to use has 6 cells with 2.1V/cell, which is half of the default value in REG0x15().

Which configuration, if any, shall be used for a such type of battery?

Thanks

Regards

  • Hi,

It is possible as the BQ25710 is a host-controlled charger and you can program the charging profile. You can set the battery charger as 3 cell configuration on CELL_BATPRESZ. After VDDA LDO is activated, the default battery regulation voltage is 12.6V. You can then program the charging profile and have the flexibility to change the charging voltage and current.
