LM25010: Overclock

Part Number: LM25010

We are operating the LM25010 at Vin=24V, Vout=3.3V, Ron=18.7k and L1=22µH. The typical output current is about 50mA.

This results in a switching frequency of about 1.3MHz. The recommended switching frequency is 1MHz.

Do we need to fear any impact on part lifetime due to this overclocking at such low current levels?

Is there any knowledge or data available on this topic?

Thanks!

  • Martin,

Switching puts stress on the part so 30% more switching puts 30% more switch stress on the part. That said there are many other considerations which may stress the part more over time (elevated temp, elevated voltage...).

This may be okay but we recommend operating at or below 1MHz for this part.
