BQ40Z50-R1: I can't UNSEAL my pack.

I have tried every way I know but the pack will not unseal. I have tried to use the bqstudio toll with the re designed UNSEAL routines and tried to enter the unseal code manually using the Advanced Comm SMD (unseal code 40500509) and nothing works.

I have worked with packs before but this one escapes me. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

the code should be in little endian. Try the different recombination 0509 4050, etc. If using advance comm window then the commands have to be sent in quick succession one after the other. I would recommend using the command button on the far right of bqstudio though as that allows you send the entire command at once

I tried the command button. I got no response. Pack was still not unsealed. I will try with the write command. I ill try again but the command buttons don't always work. That was the main issue.

Hi Kirk

Can you send a short recording of your bqstudio screen when you are sending the command. The command button ought to work if you didn't change the default keys. Even if you changed the default keys, it gives you the option to put in the new commands.

OK, part one is OK. I am able to unseal But I can't write to 0x63, 0x64, 0x65, ox66. The tool doesn't accept all the bytes and when I read 2F I only see all zeroes.

Hi Kirk,
On the bq40z50-R1, the Authentication key is written using the AuthenticationKey() command 0x0037 using one of two methods:
1. Write Block in little endian format: 37 00 + new 128-bit key with alternate bytes swapped to 0x44
2. Write word 0x0037 to ManufacturerAccess() 0x00, then Write Block the new 128-bit key to 0x2F
There is no direct access to read the key though in bq40z50-R1.

Also, 0x63 and 0x64 store the Lifetime Data (more details in section 13.61, 13.62 of the TRM)
