TLC59116: drive external MOSFET for higher current requirement

Part Number: TLC59116

Hi Team,

We want each of R/G/B can achieve 360mA, so we plan to use external circuit to drive LED.

If don't care the channel number, Is TLC59116 suitable for below structure? (We have used TLC59116 before, so we want to know if it can meet this circuit.)

Or any other better solution?

Thanks

  • Hi!

We have exactly the same problem we need more than 120mA... around 400mA.

As a solution we are thinking in connect 4 outputs. So we are calculating 4 outputs connected to the dirver with the Rext  adjusted to 185 ohms to get maximum current of 101mA for each output.

We will command each of the 4 lines in the same way but have some doubts if we could achive the minimum current we can get... maybe for the lower illumination requirements we have to get we have to command some outputs to 0 and some lower values to other...

Will be this solution feasible ore there can be some risks for the life or behavior of the TLC59116.

    Best Regards

    Saludos

  • What do you mean by minimum current?
It adjustsb the PWM duty cycle and when the channel is ON it's 101mA.
