- For the first error that I was getting, I downloaded the firmware, copied the file and all good, I am not getting the error again (" the detected device is not compatible with this application! some actions could cause the lose communication permanently and enter an unrecoverable state. Proceed at your own risk. Select ok to continue, cancel to close the application."). (Resolved).

- For the issue writing to data flash, I am doing the following as mentioned in section 3.2 of EVM User's guide:

         After running the (bqstudio) software: I go to the command window and perform: [ UNSEAL >> UNSEAL_FULL_ACCESS >> CAL_TOGGLE ], in order to update the Flash Update ok Voltage parameter. But unfortunately I am getting the error:   " A read of data written failed comparison "

What voltage did you apply to the EVM? Did you set the jumper settings as specified in Section 3.2 of the user guide (top of page 8)?

I am applying 6.5 V
- (J2) set the jumper on (>5V)
- (J5) set the jumper pn (16V)

Okay, that's good.

The VEN bit which enables the external divider is not set by default, so initially the internal divider is used on the BAT pin which divides by 5. The device will observe 6.5V / 5 = 1.3V which is below the Flash Update OK Voltage default value. Setting the CAL_EN bit should make it possible to update the data flash which should enable you to update this parameter. I am not sure what is preventing this.

- Try the CAL_TOGGLE and writing to Flash Update OK Voltage several more times to see if you can get it to work.
- Maybe increase the 6.5V temporarily to a value greater than 14V, just long enough to see if you can change the Flash Update OK Voltage. This should meet the minimum voltage requirement to update the Flash. Make sure to set it back to 6.5V after you've tried this.
- If you are able to update this successfully, don't forget to set the VEN_EN bit to 1, set the number of series cells, and set the Voltage Divider parameter.

Do I need to change the jumper (J5) from 16 V to 32 V ? When applying greater than 14 V ?

Hi Shant,

The target voltage at the BAT pin is ~1V. So the J5 setting of 16V should be okay (divides by ~19). This divider is not active until the VEN bit is set.

Another thing you can try is to set the voltage to 5V and set the jumpers to <=5V to see if you are able to modify the data flash.

I have tried both 

- (J2) (>5V) with 16 V applied to EVM

- (J2) (<=5V) with 5 V applied to EVM

None of them worked. I am not able to write anything on the data memory.

The other note that I'd like to mention is:

Case1:

(J2) (<=5V) with 5 V applied to EVM, I have correct voltage reading of 5 V.

Case2:

(J2) (>5V) with 16 V applied to EVM, I have no reading for the voltage, it is always zero.

Are we sure that the problem is from EV2300 ?
Can you send me an EV2400 ? therefore I can try it and if it fixes my problem I'll buy it.

Hi Bryan, 

My other question is the following: 

When running a GPC cycle, sometimes I get an error: "No acknowledge from device" it blinks for 2 seconds then goes off, and repeats every while. 

Am I facing all those problems because of the EVM2300 ?

Yes, an error " No acknowledge from device " in the bottom left hand corner.

I already ordered the EV2400, I am gonna receive it today, hopefully it fixes the issue.
