CC & CV tracking IC for Laser diode driver power supply.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28740, UCC28C43

Hi,

I am searching a Texas IC, which I would be used for Laser Diode driver power (Isolated) supply

It should have a provision to provide the external reference voltage to track the constant voltage and constant current. In my design I would like to control the Laser diode current and voltage using Digital control

techniques. So can you please suggest any part number which would opted for the specified application.

It would be great, if you provide the part # with other features like Remote ON/OFF, Over voltage protection,Over current protection and Thermal shutdown.

I am trying to find. Please support.

  • Please provide your power supply specs, such as input voltage, output voltage, output current, voltage regulation, over voltage protection description, thermal shutdown description. We are not able to provide our suggestions until knowing your design specs.

  • Please find the power supply specifications:

    Specifications for power supply 1:

    Input voltage : 40-50VDC

    Output voltage : 10-16VDC

    Output current : 0.5-12A

Current Regulation : 0.5% of Max load current.

    Isolation : Yes

    Noise/Ripple : <1.5uA

Thermal Shutdown descriptions : IC can have the provision to Stop the PWM Pulse, once the Laser diode temperature is reaches above 75degC.

    Specifications for power supply 2:

    Output voltage: (0 to 6VDC)

    Output current : +/-4A.

Current Regulation : 0.5% of Max current

    Input voltage : 40-50VDC

    Specifications for power supply 3:

    Output voltage: (10 to 16VDC)

    Output current : 0.5 to 12A

Current Regulation : 0.5% of Max current

    Input voltage : 40-50VDC

  • Please clarify the below:

#1 supply, noise / ripple < 1.5uA, does it mean 12A output current is with ripple < 1.5uA?

#2, and #3, supply, are they not required Noise/ripple and OTP of laser diode?

  • #2, 0 - 6 VDC output , does it mean +/-4A even at Vout = 0V?
  • #1 supply, noise / ripple < 1.5uA, does it mean 12A output current is with ripple < 1.5uA?

    * Current ripple is to be < 0.5% of Max Current.
  • We are not familiar your applications so difficult to make suggestions. But we have many IC devices that can do power conversion on your specs. For example, UCC28740, or UCC28C43. You may want to take a look at these devices and decide if they are ok for your applications.
