Hi Chin,

We focus more on the power side so I'm not too familiar with the data side. However, typically the PHY datasheet will recommend how the data side of the transformer should be terminated and if there is protection needed.

With that said, I have seen designs with added protection on the data side similar to what is shown in the below app note.
