BQ77915: bq77915

Part Number: BQ77915

Hii Sir

We are intending to use the bq77915 IC for cell balancing in the battery pack.

as mentioned in the datasheet of the bq77915 in the detailed design application page. for 18V pack they are used s series cells for the Nominal Voltage of 3.6V for this configuration how the IC will provide the Over Voltage protection and cell balancing features.

please suggest us can we get a Li-ion cell of 4.2V OR the cell is available only for 3.7V Nominal

if we used the 3.7V Nominal and 4.2 Charge voltage cell how the IC will provide the over voltage protection

  • Hi Bharath,

I'm not sure I understand the question completely. The Device Comparison Table near the beginning of the datasheet lists the parameters (like OV threshold) associated with different device part numbers. For example, the BQ7791500 has an OV threshold of 4.2V. With this device, we would recommend charging the cells to a value lower than 4.2V (4.1V is suggested in the design example) in order to prevent an over-voltage fault.

    Best regards,
    Matt
