UCD9090A: Rail 10 (Page 9) fault shut down slave, Erroneous fault

Part Number: UCD9090A

Hello,

While running verification on UCD9090A, everytime we simulate a fault on a power rail, we always get an erroneous fault on rail #10 (1.0V rail).  It always shows up as an undervoltage fault.  Can you please help us understand what would cause this?  Rail #10 works fine when a fault is simulated on that rail, but for some reason whenever we simulate a fault on any other rail, we still get an undervoltage fault for rail #10 as well.

Thanks,
Tom

  • Hello Tom

Do you measure the voltage on the rail 10 when you simulate fault on other rails? Is the fault from Rail 10 a new fault or old fault? If it is a new fault, for me, there is a UV case on the rail 10 when you simulate the faults on other rails.

    Regards

  • Hi Yihe,

Thanks for getting back to me. Here are the answers to your questions:
    1. "Do you measure the voltage on the rail 10 when you simulate fault on other rails?"
A: no, however if I take rail 10 out of UCD9090A control (IE; keep UCD9090A from powering off the supply), then the fault does not show up. It is like even though UCD9090A has shut off all the supplies, it is still monitoring rail 10....even though it shut it off.

    2. "Is the fault from Rail 10 a new fault or old fault?"
A: It is a new fault. With an empty fault log, if I simulate a fault on rail 2, I will always end up with an under voltage fault on rail #10.
  • Hello Tom

Could you share your project file? is rail #10 set as the fault shutdown slave of the faulted rail?
Device reports fault only if the rail's voltage drops below fault threshold from POWER_GOOD threshold and the rail is not intended to off.
