TPS2HB08-Q1: Current Limit Accuracy

Part Number: TPS2HB08-Q1

Dear TI Expert,

The datasheet of the TPS2HB08-Q1 (SLVSDZ3A) does Not specify an accuracy for the current limit setting. If you can please provide a figure of the current limit accuracy that'd be appreciated.

Note: it is understood that that there is a detection delay for an overload condition, but for a steady state current, the current limit detection accuracy is very helpful.

Thanks

For version B, the datasheet specifies a minimum and maximum value for the datasheet depending on what the RILIM value is set at. For version A, that device is pre-release and those values will be entered as we approach release for that part.

What specific information are you looking for?
  • Hi Alec,

I can see now the specs for version B of the part, thanks, although these are for certain current limits.

I was looking at version A, hence the question, but version B would be fine.

I need to be able to deliver 10A, so that's why I wanted to know what was the minimum value of the current limit to ensure an output of 10A. It's still useful to be able to know what the min/max values are (or tolerance), for a particular nominal current limit.

As a rule of thumb, you can assume the variation from typical is about -35%/+25% for the TPS2HB08. Therefore, if you want to guarantee a min ILIM of 10 A I would recommend a nominal current limit of about 15.5A. This means for version B you would use an RILIM of ~22.5kOhm while for version A you could use an RILIM of ~10.3kOhm. In either of these cases, you can guarantee the current limit will not trip below 10A over temperature, process, voltage, and aging.

    Thanks,
    Alec
