Hello, I wanted to clarify some information provided in the page of this component.

It says that the Lead / Ball finish is CU SN, does this refer to a copper / tin alloy? Or does it stand for pure tin (100%Sn)?

Hi Gabriel,

The lead/ball finish on the LMZ14202EXT uses 100% matte Sn plating on copper leadframes. For more information on TI's lead finish and tin plating process please refer to this link in the "Environmental Information" folder.

Hi Jimmy, thank you for the clarification.

Just one last question, in the link you provided it mentions that SnCu is also a Pb-free plating used by TI. So in future scenarios, where CU SN is read (in the Quality & Packaging tab), to differentiate between 100% Matte Tin and an SnCu alloy one must have the full materials declaration sheet, am I correct? For example for the LMZ14202, the full material declaration sheet lists, in the "Homogeneous Substance Details", Tin as being the only substance in the "Lead Plating".

Can you confirm that one can differentiate the different Pb free platings by checking this field?

That's a good question. I might have also been confused with this too. Let me check with the team and understand how to distinct one from another. When I get more information I'll get back to you.

Hi Gabriel,

After talking to the quality engineer, I have been told that all Sn plating used on TI products is considered to be Matte Sn. I have not had any experience with power module products that use CuSn alloy for plating.
