TPS63030: Quescient current of TPS63030

Part Number: TPS63030
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63802

Hello,

I'd like to ask whether TI has a buck-boost regulator similar with TPS63030 but with lower quiescent current value? Picture below is cut from TPS63030 DS.

Considering a battery with 17Ah capacity, 10 years service life, the energy consumed by TPS63030 is 35uA * 24 hours * 365 * 10 / 1000000 = 3.07Ah, about 20% total energy.

Regards,

Ma Dawei

  • Hi Dawei,

The consumed energy will actually be higher. Iq is a device parameter, and for your calculation you need no-load input current, which is higher than Iq. How to estimate no-load input current from Iq you can find in this application note:

Iq: What it is, what it isn’t, and how to use it

The TPS63802 is our buck-boost device with the lowest Iq at the moment, typically 11 µA, resulting in no-load input current below 20 µA. It is currently in preproduction phase, but samples are still available.

    Best regards,
    Milos
