The customer asked if they should remove the gold plating of the Thermal Vias when soldering.

Is there a reference for this part?

Hey Louis,

This part does not have a requirement for whether or not the thermal vias need gold plating.
We would suggest having whatever will give the better thermal connection.

Do you Know Debolding?
Debolding is Removal the Gold plate when soldering in the aerospace.
I am inquiring about this.

Hey Louis,

Yes, but this is a question about the gold on the board and not the gold on our part correct?
I agree with you that the gold plating on the leads is removed during soldering, but this is related to the thermal vias below the part which while related, may not be the same.

Its likely you will have to remove it when soldering the bottom of the part if the requirement is the same, but TI is not a space grade board manufacturer and this problem is likely better brought up to a board manufacturer and not a part manufacturer.
