LM5108: How to use LM5108 when input is one PWM.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5106, LM5105

Hi team.

I'd like to know how to use LM5108 when there is one input PWM.

Could you give me some advice?

1. If we can use LM5108 when there is one input PWM,

Please tell me the recommended configuration.

2. If we can not use our situation.

Please tell me the other driver to can be used?

*Our use case need up to 100V on boot voltage.

Sincerely.

Kengo.

  • Hello Kengo,

Thank you for the interest in the LM5108. The LM5108 includes the interlock feature which prevents both outputs from being high at the same time, even if the inputs are both high. This helps to implement a single PWM input with a simple change, and be assured both LO and HO outputs will not be high at the same time.

For a single PWM input a small signal transistor and pull up resistor can be added to the LI input to create the compliment signal to the PWM signal. The LM5108 interlock does not have deadtime added between the LO and HO outputs, so the dead time of the switches can be added with the network on the MOSFET gate with higher turn on resistance and a turn off diode with no resistance. See the attached block diagram file.

If long dead times are desired in the application, more than 20-50ns, the LM5105 and LM5106 have the single PWM input with programmable dead time.

Confirm if this addresses your question, or you can post additional questions on this thread.

  • Hi Richard.

Thank you so much for your best answer to our configuration.
    I understand !

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.
