UCC28064A: UCC28064A schematic review

Part Number: UCC28064A

Dear Sir,

we design to use UCC28064A for 86" display SMPS.

could you help let me know advise me for schematic?

Input : 90~264VAC

output : 450W

PFC target efficiency : 90VAC  /  over 93 %

  • Hello Dexter,

Thank you for your interest in using the UCC28064A PFC controller.

It may take a day or two to fully review your schematic diagram. Can you please provide the turns ratio of the boost inductor and the target voltage for the PFC output?

    Regards,
    Ulrich
  • Dear Ulrich,

Thank you for your prompt reply.
please refer to the below value.

    inductor Turns ratio : 7.6
PFC output target voltage : 390

    Thanks.

  • Hello Dexter,

Thank you for the follow-up UCC28064A Design Calculator tool spreadsheet.  It was a great help to understand your  design targets.

Please see the attached file for my review of this PFC design.

Many of the resistor values do not match the recommendations of the design tool.  I think you should follow the design tool recommended values as close as is practicable.  Also, use this tool in conjunction with the datasheet procedure, which gives additional advice on value selection.

Your schematic diagram shows the boost inductance to be 200uH, but the calculator file shows it as 330uH.

The datasheet recommends to use the lower of the 2 inductance calculations, so 200uH is appropriate.

Because follow-on calculations are based on the inductor choice, it is important to enter the correct value that you intend to use.   This applies to all values, actually.  Component values lower down depend on the user-selected values entered higher up in the tool.  Make sure the values entered are the values that you intend to use.

    Regards,

    Ulrich
