BQ25890: D+ D- connect

Part Number: BQ25890
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895

Hi,

my customer uses BQ25890 D+ D- (CHARGE_USB_DM & CHARGE_USB_DP shown below) to communicate with the USB adaptor for high voltage handshake.

And the MCU also need to communicate with the USB adaptor.

So they wonder if it's okay to connect D+ D- of adaptor to both BQ25890 and the MCU through 0ohm resistor.

Do they need a USB switch to switch between MCU and BQ25890?

  • Hi Howard,

Unless forced to communicate via I2C register, the BQ25895 D+/D- only automatically communicate during the first 2.2 seconds or less after VBUS rises above UVLO. After that, the pins go HiZ. We have customers who connect directly and also who use a USB switch.

    Regards,
    Jeff
