BQ76PL455A: Design for EMI and EMC noise

Part Number: BQ76PL455A

There is an app note "SLUA776" on your web.

And it explains about X and Y capacitor and EMI suppression filters.

Where should we put these components? Is it on the differential communication line? X and Y capacitor are put on PACK +/- on the app note.

If it is communication line, should we put near the device both lower and higher?

Best Regards,
Kohei Sasaki

  • Hi Kohei,

Yes, please follow the recommendations to place the X,Y components on PACK+/- to chassis GND, as the app note mentions this is helpful for noise immunity for battery packs in general and is not a specific recommendation unique to our devices. I recommend reading up on some general knowledge about these caps online as their are many useful articles available. As for suppression filters on the comm lines, it is helpful to add common mode choke coils as shown in pg. 18 of the design recommendations app note here: www.ti.com/.../slua791a.pdf.

    Best Regards,
