UCC29002: UCC29002 current sharing problem

Part Number: UCC29002

Hi team,

The output of system consists of two power modules in parallel. Each of power module is 28V/25A. UCC29002 is used for current sharing for the two power modules. The problem is when the system startup with 40 A load current, it will trigger overcurrent protection of one single power module, which leads to the whole system in hiccup mode. The schematic and test waveform are as below. Do you have any advice about this problem?

Thanks very much.

Best regards,

Sophia Yao

  • Hello Sophia,
The UCC29002 has a start up feature whereby it disables load sharing and forces the power module to deliver full load current in order to cause a fast start .
In your application this may be causing the load modules to go into current limit if the load is very close to the maximum load current set point.
The UCC29002/1 does not have this feature and I reccomend that you try this part and see how your system behaves.
    Regards
