BQ76940:power-off problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940

When the main MCU enters the low power state, I need to turn off the power of the BQ76940. Therefore, I turned off BQ_RST on the board. After powering up again, I found that DSG_ON was cleared and OCD was set high. How can I solve this problem? ? Is my power-off operation illegal? If I have been doing this all the time, will the work of BQ76940 fail?

  • Hi XiuFeng,
The shutdown command sequence would be preferred to put the bq76940 in the ship state to reduce power. Removing the REGSRC power will remove the power for the FET drive and REGOUT which powers some internal circuits including the OCD and SCD circuitry as well as any external uses. When REGSRC is re-applied the comparators for OCD or SCD may trip as power is raised.
Turning off REGSRC should not be harmful for the device, but you should likely turn off FETs first and clear any faults when power is re-applied. The ship mode may be better at reducing power.
