BQ76PL455A: Daisy chain connection cable

Part Number: BQ76PL455A

Can we use LAN cable for bq76PL455A daisy chain connection?

Best Regards,
Kohei Sasaki

  • Hi Kohei,

We have no specific requirement on UTP cable. We didn't test it and You should verify it by yourself.
But I would like recommend to use centralized daisy chain instead of distributed, because 455's
daisy chain is using data pass-through, which means from top 455 to bottom 455, the signal integrity will degrade.

  • Andy-san,

Please let me know about cable type. Aren't the unshielded twisted cable and CAN cable on the datasheet UTP?
Do you mean LAN cable has no cable spec and we cannot estimate cable capacitance and DCR?

And what is the centralized daisy chain? How should we connect between the device?
    Do you have any material?

  • Hi Kohei-san,

Here is cable we use for EVM.

    We don't verify other cables.

SFI 23/18  twisted pair communication cable PR517-002 Krypton 17.3 100

Centralized means all 455s are in one board, connecting devices by PCB traces.

    Thanks!

    Andy

  • Andy-san,

Is "PR517-002" cable part number? I couldn't look it on web.
Could you share the URL of the cable datasheet?

And there are "Alpha Wire 3050 series, Digi-Key part number +A2015W1000-ND" and "Waytek SAE J1939/15 CAN data bus cable" on the datasheet.
    Aren't these tested?

I think centralized connection is difficult for my customer because device stack number is many.

  • Hi Kohei-san,

Maybe you can search in its Krypton website.

I am not sure these cables are tested since 455 is old part. I am using Krypton's cable.

    Thanks!

    Andy
  • Andy-san,

Sorry, I have not find Krypton's cable. So could you share Krypton website URL?

  • Hi Kohei,

I don't have its website also.

Maybe you can contact your local trader.

I also ever tried 0.5mm, oxygen free, pure copper UTP, 100MHz telephone wire. it also works.

    Thanks!
