BQ27220: Circuit review

Part Number: BQ27220

Hi E2E,

Could you kindly review the circuit is OK ot not.

BTW, if we had charger and gauge in the same circuit, which priority is first to connect to NTC Thermistor.

Thanks!

  • The NTC should be used for the gauge given that the device uses this pin for battery detection.

If the cell and the gauge will alway be together as in a pack-side device, then al you need is R8 connected to ground. There is no need for R6.

Gpout should be connected to the GPIO of your host in the event that a shutdown event occurs with the chip. Toggling that pin will cause the device to exit shutdown.

I believe you do not have the grounds properly connected. SRN should be connected to the charger ground while the IC , SRP, C5, R8 and C4 should have the same ground.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx,

    Thanks to your reply.

I refer BQ27220 datasheet figure.10 to modify the circuit as below.

The system and charger's Gnd havd to connect to SRP(+), Gauge and Battery's GND have to connect to SRN(-).

So System and Charger's total current flow  through the R5 (Current shunt) to Gauge and Battery's GND.

Is it OK for this design?

  • looks good.
    thanks
