BQ78350-R1: bqStudio does not list gauge device

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76930, BQ78350, BQSTUDIO

Hi

I recently started using the EVM for bq76930 and bq78350_R1.

I've installed bqStudio and successfully downloaded and updated the firmware for bq78350 as per instructions in the bq76930 EVM Users Guide.  The GUI now displays version 1e9b_1_04 for the bq78350_R1.

However, when restarting bqStudio, and after selection gauge as the device, the list of device types does not include this version.  An error screen with dire warnings is displayed if 1e9b_1_03 is selected from the list.

I have tried both versions of bqStudio (the current one, and the test one) and both have this same problem.  I've attached screenshots showing the error.

  • When you downloaded the new firmware, there should also be a .bqz file as part of the package. (Check in C:\ProgramData\Texas Instruments\)
Copy the new .bqz file to the directory C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\config\. This will allow BQStudio to automatically detect the device with the new firmware.

Also, it's also a good idea to use the latest version of BQStudio. I think v1.3.90 is the latest on ti.com. However, this is not related to the issue you are seeing.

    Best regards,
    Matt
