Question of LM3526

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3526

We have a question about LM3526.

(LM3526MX-H/NOPB)

In datasheet p.10 Figure.22 Self-Powered Hub Per-Port Voltage Drop,

"Tantalum or 100µF electrolytic, per port"

33µF is tantalum and 100µF is ceramic capacitor.

Is this understanding correct?

Best regards,

Takahiro Nishizawa

  • Hi Takahiro Nishizawa,

So sorry for the late reply.

    Have missed your post.

"Tantalum or 100µF electrolytic, per port"

Means 33µF is tantalum and 100µF is electrolytic capacitor.

I will first close the quesion.

If you have any other concern, contact me any time.

    Thanks.

    Ziv

  • Thank you for your answer!

Can we use the ceramic capacitor instead of 100µF electrolytic capacitor?
Please tell us the value of ceramic capacitance if we can use the ceramic capacitor instead of 100µF electrolytic capacitor.

    Best regards,
    Takahiro Nishizawa
  • Hi Takahiro Nishizawa,
The input capacitor is used for offering energy as hot-plug when the power switch and power supply can't response in such a short time.
Due to the higher energy density of tantalum than electrolytic with same capacitor value, we can use bigger electrolytic capacitor(100uF) to replace with tantalum (33uF).
From my experience, for power switch, 100uF ceramic capacitor is enough.
But I can't guarantee for you about the part.

If any, contact me any time.
