LM5041: LM5041 SCP(short circuit protection) function

Part Number: LM5041

Hi,

Customer is looking at LM5041 for its short circuit protection, when output is short, how can this IC prevent PWM and realize SCP?

  • Hello Shenua,
The LM5041 has an overcurrent protection sense input pin CS.
If CS exceeds 0.5V the outputs will go into cycle by cycle current limit and if CS exceeds 0.6V the outputs are disabled and a soft start is initiated.
On the evaluation board the input current is sensed with T! and this will protect the system from an over current condition.
The operation is described in this document
