BQ24192: when the battery is over-discharged, the power supply through the external adapter cannot give priority to supply the system

Part Number: BQ24192

Dear TI experts:

There is a question about BQ24192~ As the datasheet shows, the BQ24192 supports the following functions (Power Path). However, at present, when the battery is over-discharged, the power supply through the external adapter cannot give priority to supply the system.  Are there any suggestions for the issue?

Looking forward to your reply, thanks!

Narrow VDC (NVDC) Power Path Management

– Instant-on Works with No Battery or Deeply Discharged Battery

– Ideal Diode Operation in Battery Supplement Mode

The power path management regulates the system slightly above battery voltage but does not drop below 3.5-V minimum system voltage (programmable). With this feature, the system maintains operation even when the battery is completely depleted or removed. When the input current limit or voltage limit is reached, the power path management automatically reduces the charge current to zero. As the system load continues to increase,
the power path discharges the battery until the system power requirement is met. This supplement mode operation prevents overloading the input source.

  • Robin,

The power path of the NVDC provides the system power even with deeply discharged voltage. Could you please elaborate the setup, provide the screenshot showing the issue you described and the register setting? You can also disable charging (set REG01[5:4]=00) to compare the difference for debugging purpose.
  • Hi,

We haven’t heard back from you for a while, the thread is considered solved and closed.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
