TPS92692-Q1: detecting fault during load dump

Part Number: TPS92692-Q1

Hello Team,

One of my customer is using TPS92692-Q1 to drive  11 LEDs at the output with about 110mA current in boost to battery mode.

Design is working fine for entire input range of 8V to 24V DC. Attached sheet has all the values updated as per customer board assembly.

During load dump test, TPS92692-Q1 detects fault and restarts after 35mS. When load dump pulse is applied, input voltage to the device rises from 13.5V (nominal) to about 24V and gradually reduces back to 13.5V. At every load dump pulse, device detects fault and turns off for 35mS.

We tried following but design is still failing load dump test – pulse 2a and 2b

  1. increasing output caps – across LED and wrt GND
  2.  fine tuning compensation,
  3. tried higher inductor value
  4. increased OVP level
  5. more filtering on CSP-CSN sensing

Can you please guide, how to resolve the problem?

 Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Mahendra Patel
