LM27762: Protection diode on negative rail

Part Number: LM27762

Hi,

Seeing figure 10 on the datasheet, positive voltage seems to appear on negative rail instantaneously as below.

Should we locate clamp diodes to protect loads(opamp)?

Could you give me any advice?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi,

I would assume this type of behavior at start up should not damage your load. It will shift the negative voltage reference of your op-amp for a short amount of time.

It is nevertheless good practice to use a schottky diode at the output connected to ground to prevent -VOUT to be driven positive.
Thank you very much for reaching out to us!

    Best Regards,
    Dorian
