SM74611: Why is current draw at less than 2A undefined in datasheet?

Part Number: SM74611

On page 5 Figure 1 of the datasheet

       http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sm74611.pdf

The average forward drop starts at a current of 2A.

Is a current draw of less than 2A undefined?

Furthermore, is this device recommended for applications where the current is less than 2A?

  • Hello Josh,

For less 2A, the forward drop is very less and power dissipation is not huge.
So, data less than 2A is not published in the datasheet.

SM74611 can be used for <2A applications.
Recommended operating condition published in section 6.3 states the device can be used from 0 to 15A forward current.

    Regards,
    Kari.
